The mission of the tannery is to recycle, transform and enhance hides, by-products of the French agri-food industries.

The beamhouse stage (rivière) encompasses a series of processes requiring a high level of technical precision. Raw hides are placed in wooden drums, where they undergo chemical treatments. Once tanning is completed, the hide can then be called “leather”. The tanning formula itself is a unique expertise mastered by our tanners and is a true signature of our production.

During retanning, the leather develops its sensory identity: suppleness, hand and roundness. Pigments introduced during the dyeing phase then give the crust its color.

The leather is subsequently subjected to mechanical operations that dry it, soften it and adjust its thickness.

Finishing gives the leather its final appearance and color through the spraying of pigments, lacquers and fixatives. The colorists at Tanneries Roux—true alchemists—create the precise and unique shades that define each leather.

Finally, our quality laboratory ensures compliance with specifications defined by the client. Flex resistance, abrasion, soiling, water drop tests: each leather is assessed according to its level of naturality, intended use and expected performance.

Throughout the entire manufacturing process, the leather undergoes precise and regular quality controls, as well as fine adjustments. From one batch to another, our experts adapt their formulas to guarantee a consistent and repeatable result.
