The tannery

Transform. Elevate. Inspire.

Since 1803, Tanneries Roux has been perpetuating expertise passed down from generation to generation.

Romans-sur-Isère, the historic cradle of French footwear, has forged our culture of excellence: precise craftsmanship, perfect materials, masterful transformation.

In 2012, our integration into LVMH Métiers d’Art recognised the uniqueness of our expertise and anchored the House in a dynamic of sustainable innovation.

Our history spans two centuries of intimate relationship with the material, and a single desire: to allow it to express its full sensory potential.

Our team brings together artisans, colourists, technicians and engineers — united by their commitment to listening to the customer and working with them to create leathers that convey a meaning, a purpose and an emotion.

OUR LEATHERS

Our collections are structured around three complementary themes, designed to meet the needs of leather goods, footwear, accessories and design companies. They express the full richness of a sensory material capable of evolving, revealing itself and standing the test of time.

Signatures
Iconic, balanced, timeless: leathers that have built the House’s reputation. The material is reassuring and perfectly mastered.

Characters
Distinctive grains, intense colours, strong presence: materials that assert an expressive identity.

The Bold
A creative laboratory where new finishes, surface effects and more experimental ideas are explored to push the boundaries of the material.

Our commitments

Labels & certification
Demanding the best from the material means ensuring an impeccable transformation — built on durability, compliance, traceability and respect for life. Internationally recognised certifications and audits (LWG…), full compliance with REACH, Proposition 65 and GB Standards, and alignment with the LVMH PRSL framework anchor our responsibility every day.

The leather industry

Rigorous traceability of hides, materials and processes: because leather is a living material, every stage of its transformation respects life, resources, standards and human rights, upheld with an uncompromising demand for integrity.

Corporate patronage

Partnerships with schools (IMM Shoes, ITECH…) and second-life projects for leather offcuts supporting local organisations (a monastery, educational workshops, etc.) reflect commitments rooted in time and in our local community.
